Course Outline
4. Orientation (3 min)
Orientation introduces teachers to the basics (and benefits!) of LENA Grow. Hands-on demonstration and practice opportunities prepare teachers for their first LENA Day.
- Schedule each recruited site's Orientation session at least three weeks prior to LENA Day 1. Reference your Room Prep Checklist for detailed instructions and resource links.
- At least two days prior to Orientation, gather and prepare the presentation, handouts, forms, and demonstration materials. Leave yourself enough time to make copies, download resources, and review the information you will be sharing.
Orientation Day
Let’s learn how LENA Grow digital and print materials support you in delivering a fantastic Orientation session! Open your Coach Guide to the Orientation section.
As with all coaching sessions, add personal examples, anecdotes, or comments that you feel will help your teachers connect best to the information presented. And remember: when introducing LENA Grow, your energy and support sets the tone for the entire program — a little bit of enthusiasm can go a long way!

If you are supporting both teachers who are new to LENA and teachers who already completed a sequence, consider ways to involve the experienced teachers:

Now that you know how the materials support your delivery of Orientation, go ahead and read through the Orientation script in the Coach Guide.
Note or highlight:
- When and how materials are used (e.g., LENA device/clothing).
- Areas that you feel are exciting and/or motivational.
- Potential questions your teachers may have.
