Sharing LENA Resources: Dos and Don’ts
How to use and share copyrighted LENA materials
Feel free to share stories, photos, data, and helpful caregiver resources to promote your LENA program. Just be sure to follow copyright rules when using or sharing any protected materials.
If in doubt, refer to the guidance below or reach out to communications@lena.org with questions.
Do:
✅ Share LENA’s many publicly available resources found at
LENA.org/resources.
✅ Always share the link to download the resource rather than reposting the resource yourself.
✅ Contact LENA for approval before altering copyrighted materials or publicly distributing them.
✅ Contact LENA to request resources that would be helpful to you. We may already have something that would meet your needs, or be able to work with you to create it.
Don't:
❌ Distribute copyrighted program materials externally without permission. This includes program materials such curricula, workbooks, session handouts, training videos, etc. These are provided for distribution to your team and your program participants only. Digital or print distribution of proprietary program materials to the general public is expressly prohibited.
❌ Post copyrighted program materials on a public website.
❌ Post downloaded copies of LENA’s publicly available resources. Provide LENA’s link to the downloadable resource instead.
❌ Alter LENA materials without written permission.
❌ Remove LENA logos, graphics, or copyright notices from materials.
❌ Present as your own any LENA materials or resources.
The bottom line:
It’s all about the 2 ‘As’ — attribution and approval. When in doubt, reach out!
