Move a Child to a Different Group
To move a child, simply add them to the new group.
How to move a child
Whether mid-sequence or starting a new sequence, add the child to the group he will record in.
The search feature reduces the amount of information you need to enter for an existing child.
- Type in just the first or last name to search.
- Select the correct child in the search results.
- Click Continue to move the child.

What happens to the child in the original group, and to the data?
- Child list: Name is grayed out in the original group, and an icon shows she has moved on. Click the child's name to view current group assignment.
- Exception: If the child never recorded in the original group, the child is completely removed.
- Reports: Recordings made while in the original group stay with that group's reports. Future recordings count toward the new group.
⚠️ Timing: Always move a child before the next LENA Day.
Why? Data always goes to the LENA Online group the child was in at 12 a.m.
If you move a child on or after the new group's next LENA Day, his data will appear in the old group's reports.
If you accidentally miss a move, LENA Support can correct the data. Email support@lena.org with the child's ID, the date of the recording, and the name of the group where the child was physically present on that date, and we'll fix it.
