Course Outline

1. Coaching Sessions Guide (4 min)

The LENA Home Coaching Sessions guide helps prepare for and conduct coaching sessions. Use this guide as reference throughout the program. Read the guide to learn more about LENA Home, the LENA device, and each program material resource. Plus, preview a sample Home sequence.

Quality implementation of Core Sessions 1-4 supports the success of the entire program. These core sessions teach the importance of early talk and how to use the LENA program. Language Enrichment sessions are shorter sessions focused on increasing talk during daily routines. The LENA Home program ends with a special Celebration session.

Each session follows the same outline:

  • Introduction page
    • Estimated session length.
    • Overview of participant session goals.
    • Pre- and post-session prep lists.

    • Step-by-step dialogue to use while delivering a session.
    • Italicized "action" sentences.
    • Simple icons to indicate when an additional material, such as a handout or video, is needed during the session.
