Each section of this lesson contains two videos: the first provides an overview of session information, the second is a copy of what parents are shown during an actual session. It is important to watch this video to gain an understanding of a typical family LENA experience. Please note, when watching videos, page numbers vary between program versions and may only be an approximation.
Core Session 1 introduces families to LENA and the importance of early talk. Watch the video to learn more about session goals, how to help families learn about LENA Home, family handouts, and the family consent form. These documents will be provided by your program manager.
Read Core Session 1 in your Coaching Sessions Guide to review information on how to introduce and explain LENA Home (and the importance of early talk) to families.
The Core Session 1 parent video focuses on brain development and the important role talk plays in early childhood success.
Core Session 2 includes important information essential for program success. Watch the video to learn how to use the LENA device, understand LENA reports, and complete the Snapshot report. Note: not all programs choose to complete the Snapshot Assessment with participants. Please check with your program manager to confirm you will be offering the Snapshot to families.

You will show two parent videos during Core Session 2. The first video helps families understand how to get a good recording using the LENA device. The second explains the Snapshot report, what the report measures, and how to complete it.
Core Session 3 explains the 14 Talking Tips. Watch the video to learn more about sharing ideas with caregivers on how to incorporate these ideas into everyday routines.
